I recently picked up a 74 cj5. PO took out most switched in the dash and has a few toggle switches on it for things. im putting things back but have never had a jeep so im not sure what is where and things like that. Also is there anywhere that sells a switch set? like everything to put it back to stock and new?

Hi - the aftermarket retailers sell some of those parts, but a lot of ancillary parts for these Jeeps are NLA (no longer available). Nothing like a set or kit for the dash parts ever existed. I have a few pictures here of my '75 in this thread Build A Gauge Tester which will be the same as a '74. Likely I have a few others somewhere if you want to see specific things.

Doors are off - I can take a pic:

The parts book for '74-80 is available on CD-ROM at RockAuto. More Information for DETROIT IRON DPRC11474JPB Under $25. The TSM for '74 is available to read and download here Jeep® Parts Manuals online Some of the descriptions and illustrations there may help you. Look at the wiring diagram for what's supposed to be there.

My God....That's beautiful.. I kick myself in the arse everyday for hacking up my original dash for a bunch of crap.

What are the switches around the steering column?

L to R: lights, wipers, flasher, ignition switch, cigar lighter. lights, wipers, flasher have those rectangular lighted labels above them.

was not able to find a new flasher/hazard lamp when i did this dash, so I took the lens out of the old one and put it in a new body, at the time you could get the wiper and lights with no problem. I'm sure that is still the case IMG_3933.jpg

Thanks for the pics. I have many more holes and lots of wires just hanging to go through
