I have a piece of masking tape on the floor board with the shift pattern because I can’t remember either.

I ended up making a custom sticker for my '71 to incorporate the over-and-back T18, OD, and twin stick:

I see what ya did there...disguising your four-speed tranny as a three speed with LOW!

And that's essentially what they are. I remember Chevy pickups in the 70s were marked this way from the factory.

That is a beefy looking tach mount.

Yeah, I hated the stupid hose clamp mount on non-matching radius bracket:

So I cut up an aluminum roll bar mount/clamp:

Ground an arc in it and tapped it (along with a notch in the bottom half to clear the wires on the bottom of the column):

    Much better!

That about as good as I'm going to do without having a mill.

Oh no...my hose clamps are deemed inferior.
I even have one holding on my aftermarket turn signal lever.

I did it with L for granny gear because my wife occasionally drives the Jeep and it helps her not start out in super low when not needed.

I used black paint and some heat-shrink to make the clamp look better. 004resized.jpg

they were, and i got one of em. one of the first things i did to the truck was get a shift knob from an earlier truck, i cant stand the L-1-2-3 marking, as its how my clutch ended up getting roasted.

Thats how a truck with a "granny" 4 speed is supposed to be driven. Normal driving, unloaded, 1st gear isn't needed.

even my 2000 F250 with a 6 speed, you don't use 1st gear for normal driving.

All unsynchronized gears are L in my opinion. You're not returning to it without a dance once moving.

    L _ 2

well, my clutch must be going out or something, because trying to start in 2nd (marked 1 on knob) always ends up in excessive slipping of the clutch.

What sort of truck is it? Engine, transmission axle ratio?

For reference, here is a single stick:

And here is a twin stick:

The twin stick is a lot shorter.

A have used a number of the two piece aluminum shaft collars to make similar brackets for a lot of different applications. Quite a bit stouter than the light brackets but those too come in handy for mounting all sorts of stuff.

    76 c20, 292 I6 SM465 4.56 gears. Shouldn't be a problematic setup, but it seems to be.
