Well I tested the 62 CJ5 with the V-6 on the ice and snow yesterday. Pulled out of the garage with it onto my iced up driveway in 2 wheel drive and the Posi spun it haft way around! Got out on the road gave it some gas and it broke loose and shifted all over the road. After I locked in the front wheels it was GREAT!! Then I could punch it and go pretty straite. I was happy with the traction but not with only 2 wheel drive and a posi in the rear. The posi allows both tires to spin so it will 360 on you easy if your not carfull. Had a blast looking for deep spots to go in but will have to wait alittle longer for some real deep stuff to test it out in. Mark H.

With a Lockright in mine F&R, it stays in the garage when there's any snow/ice around...

In high school, had a "snow day", begged Dad to trade me rigs, so I could drive the JEEP to work, instead of the VW Squareback.....

Made it about one mile out out, hit one little bump, and did a slow lazy 180. Picked out a gorgeous blonde in an MGB who was in between a dump truck pulling a backhoe, and a log truck. Pretty much wiped her car out, cut her cheek, and creamed the right side of Dad's pride and joy.

School of hard knocks. Shoulda stuck with the VeeDub. Had three of them; I'd buy another in a heartbeat........

Mine was horrible in the snow when the lockright was in the rear. Much better with ARBs.

Have to qualify that a little. If it's slick, I'd rather drive my Mustang than my Jeep. Damn Jeep wants to switch ends without any provication.

If it's deep, then the Jeep is awesome. I had a blast with it during the last storm. Couldn't believe it was going over snow drift rather than through them.

That is why I don't like limited slip differentials. I had a brand new 72 cj that got cattywampus (a technical term) on a logging road in Virginia, and no matter how I tried it wanted to drift sideways and rear end first into the swamp. That limited slip was counter productive.

If I was going to spend the money (again) I'd go with a locker like an ARB that you can turn on and off at your discretion. I don't know anything about the electric lockers, but I had a CJ-7 with front and rear ARB's and the ability to lock and unlock when I chose was wonderful.

The CJ-7 is long gone and unless I want to make another off road jeep, I'll stick with open diffs on my jeeps.

I have a locker in my Chevy Duely also they are great if your not wanting to turn much on ice. Best thing is a single weel drive so the other can hold you straite if one spins. I would never have lockers in both ends around here to much ice and snow on the roads during the winter. Brather have it on the front end then the rear for those reasons. Mark H.

Yup, when the streets are slick, the Jeep goes into 4 wheel drive. Man, can I do a tight donut though....

Coming back from town today with my daughter I wanted to show her how easy it was to slide on the ice driving if you wern't paying attention. I kicked it out of 4X4 and the goosed it while rolling about 20 mph. Man I just wanted it to slide a little but next thing I knew I was sideways in the road tring to correct and sideways the other way and findly let off it and stopped befor I went in the ditch! Looked at my daughter and said see easy to loose it and realy I did not want to loose it that much!! Asked her if I scared her and she said no but was wondering how long it would take to dig it out of the snow in the ditch. I told her no problem there that is what 4X4 is for. Glad I did not have to prove it but I used all of the 20 ft wide dirt road to get control of it again. Mark H.
