So I recently swapped out the 1 barrel Carter for a two barrel Weber. Got it installed & fired up. It seems to run fine w/ no sputter or backfire. I noticed that I am only getting fuel to one of the two barrels. Clogged jet? Also what kind of fuel pressure do these run best on. I've heard 3 1/2 lbs. Will I need to get a fuel press. regulator & press. guage? Can I get these parts at the auto parts store?

what do you mean, "only getting fuel to one barrel?" IIRC this is a progressive carb, with one primary and one secondary barrel, like half a 4-barrel carb. The accelerator pump only squirts into the primary (I would suppose).

Timgr. I thought you'd chime in. I was hoping anyway. You are probably correct & now I kind of feel like an idiot:oops:. I should have thought about that (one primary). So I guess the only question now is with the fuel pressure. It idles & revs fine, as it sits. I need to get the linkage hooked up, so I can see how it runs under a load.

As a general rule 3.5 psi is the correct fuel pressure for webers. Exactly which weber do you have? I take it its a progressive?

if you've got the k-550-14, you've got a progressive. the secondary doesn't open until well into the skinny pedal.

i run mine at 1 psi, and i use a holley fuel-pressure regulator, mounted on the d/s fender. i'd be inclined to pull the top of the carb off, and check the inlet needle/seat assembly. mine was slightly loose from the factory, and after a few months, it loosened up. this caused fuel to just flow right on in to the bowl, regardless of the level, and took some time to figure out (sure did run rich, all the time). don't go overboard on tightening it if it needs it, but you don't want it backing out, either.

edit: holley part no. is 12-804 for the 1 to 4 psi regulator.
