I have two 68 Jeepsters, trying to build one nice one. I believe from my reseach that they both have Dana 44"s One is a limited slip with one piece axles and the other has the two piece axles. I'm inclined to use the limited slip with the one piece axle. Is this the best choice? Looking for the pro's and con's.

Thanks, the new guy on the block.

I've have to ask....... what exactly is a Bullnose? signed the dumb guy.

To some extent it depends on how and where you will be driving. but in general the greater traction from the limited slip and greater strength from the one piece would be an advantage.

    BTW, Welcome to the board!

Bullnose == the later Commando where AMC redid the front end to not use the classic seven slot grille.

Yep, the one-piece axles are stronger. Do you know what gear ratio the axles have?

A flanged (one-piece) axle should come with a Dana Trac-Lock limited slip differential. Even when new, the Trac-Lock is not very aggressive and has excellent manners on the pavement. Note that they wear faster than most other LSDs, and are typically found so worn that they are little different from an open axle. A clutch pack replacement will refresh them.

MO - use the flanged/LSD axle.

Bull nose front sort of looks more like the Bronco of that time (flat and square)

The gear ratio is 3:31. both Jeepsters have the 225 and TH400. Were is the best place to find the clutch packs?
