it looks to me like you can drill out the rivets holding the door latch on and replace the handle assembly.

it wont have matching keys...but you could get a locksmith to do that i guess.

I have an extra set of door handle parts...if you're willing to wait for them....i have 4 doors....2 of which I'm going to clean up and rejuvenate....you're welcome to the other parts i don't use at that time....it might be a good several month before i get there though....wouldnt want to give something away too soon and find that i needed it!

I am in no hurry at all. I don't have an engine yet, though it is coming today so it will be a few months before I need anything. you can contact me directly at cmciff@gmail.com

Something I had forgot to mention in my earlier post. I use wing nuts to attach the top to the tub.

CJjunk the wingnut idea is a great thought!
crimedog thats an awesome set of pictures.Your photos show the windhield channels that are usually missing for these tops. They are different on the early tops as compared to the '76-'79 tops.I have aquired an aluminum "Arctic Hardtop" to use on our '45 USMC MB and need door handles for that top.I also need a set of windshield to door filler plates for the '79 Orville hardtop I'm putting on my '83(or a pattern so I can make my own.
Heres a thought...there seems to be a BUNCH of us that like these factory hardtops for our Jeeps wether it be the Meyers/Orville tops or the Koenigs,Kellys or others. How about a special section on the site dedicated to these tops and where to find replacement components that work on them.I remember one forum post that mentioned the window crank pieces being the same as some Kenworth and Peterbuilts. There are a lot of people looking for the hard to find sheetmetal parts such as the windshield filler plates.I could make patterns for the style like on crimedogs Meyers top.I could probably make a few patterns for window glass also.We could share these on the site to help each other rebuild/restore our old hardtops.I also may have a spare door handle. We could make a list of spare parts that we might be able trade/sell/donate to others...What would you guys think about something like that?

I also have a set of beat up doors with broken glass that I'm thinking of modifying into half doors for off roading in the summer.Half doors are nice to keep the mud out.

I have 2 Hard tops. One is a Kelly all steel and the other is a myers in rough shape. But all four doors are complete and working. The doors for the Kelly don't use the hinges like the myers. They have a long piano hinge that runs the length of the door and screw on to the windsheld frame. It is a pain to put on. But you gotta love a good looking hard top. If any one would care to share pics that would really be helpfull. Pics of ALL the parts installed.

Well, me too. Since I was unsuccessful in giving the darn thing away, I've kind-of decided to make my full top into a half cab, and there will be some pieces left over. I'll need a few bits later on.

Having been a painter for 30 yrs. I tend to forget things. I also taped a piece of painter's plastic to the windshirld frame and installed the Meyers parts that fit there with the bolts greased up. After that I used expand foam sealant to fill between the WS frame and the Meyers bolt on door frame. This helps a lot with the whistling that you get going down the road and makes it a good, permanent and the bolts can be removed and cleaned up before being re-installed.

I will. Girls don't like the draft when wheeling, so hopefully it will be sooner rather then later.
