    Well lets here some thoughts!!!!!

How big is to big??? Would you go 2" or 4" before your CJ5 was high enough or would you do a 6" or 8". For me the answer was easy. I put a Rusty's (well I'm trying to put on) 3" with 3/4" shackles. Looks great so far but I soon came to find out the soft top that I picked up off a donor CJ last fall had to come off to never go back on!!! Next I realized the garage door track also need a 2" lift with some slight bracket cutting for my CJ5 to get out of the garage. So for me when you no longer can fit OUT or IN the garage enough is enough!!! LOL Lets hear your thoughts!!!!! Oh and I now fit by 5/8" no 33's in my future!!!

I can't go much higher (maybe an inch) before it won't fit in the garage, which is fine because I don't want it any higher. I've considered going back to 32's and lowering the Jeep an inch.

Right around 2" is what I find to be enough

I'd love more ground clearance, but a lower center of gravity...I drag the cross member plenty, but I really don't want to lay it on it's side..

I'm right there with ya, I have 33's on mine and have about an inch between the top and garage door. But agree with Patrick I will not go any higher, Nor do I see a need to.

My CJ is stock height so its not the problem, the ZJ next to it on 36's and my custom longarm kit is the one I have to worry about. I had to air down the tires to around 9-11 to get it in and leave it there for offroad as well.

I have a 2.5 " lift with 31s. I don't need a taller lift for my driving, hunting and prospecting, and the Meyers top and full cage add some noticeable weight when off camber.
I read somewhere a stock CJ can run 32s without a lift. Mine had 32s when I got it and it rubbed a little but they were 11.5" wide too.

I went with a 1" suspension lift and about a 1" body lift. The old springs were so shot though that it's a good 3" or 4" inches taller than when I started. It also had (and still has) 28" tires on 15" wheels. I am installing 16" wheels and either 31" or 32" tires so it wll grow a bit more before it is done. It is amazing how fast it all adds up.

i put a 2.5" suspension lift and a 2" body lift on mine to help out with clearance for my trans and exhaust. it is really taller than i wanted. I am not sure if i will clear the garage door or not when i finally get my tires on it w/o the top... I allready figure that i will be installing a taller garage door Cause i know if i put the hardtop on it wont fit . a new garage door wont be a bad thing anyway.

No it doesn't, but whats wrong with a laugh here and there? But staying on topic I would have to say that the factory height with 32's looks perfect. Thompology's rig has the ideal stance.

No idea what my lift is, its all custom anyways, but I will have to let the air out of the tires to get it to clear the garage door. The new shop (crossing fingers), has a nice, big roll up door. No problems there.:D

here is mine with 33's 1 3/4 shackles and the heavy duty springs. I do have 1 1/2 wheel spacers just to keep the tires out of the springs. But with this stance and an 8' door I have an inch of clearance to get in the garage.

My '71 was the same set up as Patricks. I scraped the bottom of the garage door when I had the soft top on... until one day I figured out I could get the garage door to go up another 2 inches. :D
