    I'd pass personally
better to wait till something better comes along
nothing wrong with paying more for better.....and less for less.

as rusty jeeps go this one is not bad for the area. it gets bonus points because it hasn't been out on salty roads in a decade, and besides the obvious two rust areas it seemed alright for the most part. i've considered finding something further west or south, flying out and driving back too. so i'd be willing to travel for sure.

So to help your decision, how many of us have told you it's a good deal? How many have told you we would pass?

Buying something like this is really a personal decision. For me, it comes down to how much I want something, regardless of the price. Take the AMC 401. I really wanted a 401. But in Florida they just are not around. For any price. So if I found a rebuildable motor for $1000, I would have bought it and had it re built. Other places in the US seem to have 401's fairly common. I'm going to Denver this summer and I'm going to be looking for a 401 there to bring back here.

I did find one for my current project just out of luck finding a waggie with a "360" for $300 that the owner did not know was a 401. The waggie was nothing more than a parts rig but I made some money parting it out.

Point is, if the jeep is worth it to you, after the folks have pointed out what we see, then buy it and don't look back.

    +1

Looking at the pictures, I'm trending negative at this price.

If you are particularly in love with the color/stripes/features of this Jeep, then it might be worth it. If not, and I were looking for a daily or weekend driver, I'd widen my search to the south and west, and include some newer models (ie YJs and TJs). Owning one Maine Jeep, one Tennessee Jeep, and one Arizona Jeep, my feeling is that it's worthwhile to go south and west to search out exactly what you want.

Maybe things are different in Pennsylvania, but this Jeep would likely sell for half the current asking price here in Massachusetts. Buyers would think: it's rusty, it's not collectible, and it's old.

enlightening as usual haha. and for the record it's cj or bust, 79 is the newest i'd like to get. i started with a cherokee, built it, parted it and dumped that into my 48.

i'm not going to lie the appearance and features have me semi-smitten, as dumb as that sounds. i figure we'd all like to think we are a form following function crowd, but what can you do?

that one on the tx craigslist looks pretty sweet, but the more i think about buying a jeep far away and the time/gas it would require to bring it home... shoot i might as well just get something with a bit of crusty rust and go for it with the extra 800 something i would spend transporting something like that back home.

argh, location location location...my friend just linked me to a sweet 80' rebuilt in tuscon for 5k. too bad it's 2100 miles away, probably cost close to 600 in gas to drive it back...if nothing breaks. damn jeeps.
