I just got home with my v8 T15 Dana 20 combo. I forgot to get the frame mounts and I know the ones from my 232 won't work. I have access to an old v8 frame from a 79 cj5,(mine is a 72). I know the frames are different, but will the frame mounts interchange or do I have to drive 90 miles to get the ones off the doner cj5 ( a 73 model).
On the plus side, the side of my new motor is cast 360, not 304!!!! Bonus!!!!

I believe you can use the 79 mounts without a problem.

Score! ... although the 360 swapped in is not uncommon today. There are more 360s out there than 304s.

Regarding interchangability, I don't know ... the part numbers change in '76, and again for '77-80. For Intermediates, the left ones are all the same, 6 and V8, PN 999141. The right one for a V8 is PN 999180.

Maybe your seller can put the 999180 in a USPS flat rate box and send it to you. That would probably be cheaper than driving to get it.

thanks for the responses folks. got off a little early yesterday so i drove the 90 miles and picked up the mounts off the doner CJ. when i got home i compared them and except for a few holes they are identical. The best i can tell, the 232 uses 1 bolt hole in the center of the frame mount whereas the 304 uses 2 bolt holes. So in theory , drilling the proper holes into the 232 frame mounts should allow you to use them for a 304. Hope somebody out there can use this info.

    Cheers and happy Jeepin'!!!!

You're not suppose to drill hole....normaly on the external af the frame you have already 6 hole for engine mount. Maybe you will need to drill the sheet metal inside the frame.
