I'm in the process of determining the details of a new exhaust system and am looking for some guidance. I have decided to use Novak block hugger headers. These have a 2-1/2" collector. From there I intend to Y into a single pipe and use one turbo muffler with a tailpipe dumping at the rear corner. My old system is true-dual exhaust, 2" pipe, DynoMax turbos and dumps at the back corners. I like the sound and with the exception of the old headers everything else is in such good condition it could be reused. I intend to weld all pipe joints so it would all be mild steel (aluminized).

I seem to be undecided on pipe size. Common formulas indicate about 2" for the 225. This would require a reducer. 2" could allow me to use existing muffler and pipe. But it does limit the availability of various needed pieces. Going to 2-1/2" makes it easy from the collector back with plenty of product choices. I have plenty of room just aft of the T-case OD for a muffler. I've been trying to find a 2 into 1 muffler but the only ones I find that are not stainless are school bus mufflers. Don't know if I'd like the exhaust note of that, besides they are l-o-n-g.

I'm stuck. Help me get this project going.

did you look at Magnaflow for mufflers.large selection in the flyier I have from them . to me I like the 2" for the small 225 ,if this was a race jeep a more free flowing 2.5 might be needed but backpressure is good sometimes.

Flowmaster has a series 50 dual 2 1/2" inlet/single 3" outlet. It worked well for me. I used 2" mandrel bent pipe with reducers where needed. I cut them down so I only used the length needed. You only really need the reducer part. Reduced to 2 1/2" out.

I just put a magna flow single exhaust on my 4.3L V-6. I made a video. It's on my 4.3L swap build thread. Check it out.

Magnaflow is all stainless as far as I can tell. I wouldn't want to but SS wire and a bottle of argon just to weld 2 joints. I can't find the 50 Series dual in/single out that Rocky speaks of. The flowmaster website sucks big time!! Dual in/single out is rare. The other way around is common, but some of those mufflers are not reversible.

I tend to agree with CJ5/442. 2" is just about the right size for a 225. Not that I want stock but isn't the stock exhaust around 1-3/4"?

Why not run the two into a y pipe and then into a single/single muffler?

Look at summitracing.com. They have it there, along with every other muffler known to man.
