Since I built my 57 CJ5 with a t98, 134 and fiberglass body, I ve never been happy with the accelerator pedal's placement and travel. The fiberglass body has been a pain all along for many reasons, mainly the increased thickness throughout. When I installed the body, I had to lay up a fiberglass tunnel to accommodate the larger gearbox, so i don't think the pedal is exactly where it should be. I have the original carb linkage but I couldn't use the stock assembly from the pivot on the block back to the pedal. We bent up a threaded rod in the hope we could find a better arrangement down road. My buddy wanted to try some sort of cable and pulley set up. I believe something with cables would be better, myself . Does anyone out there have any suggestions? I looked once for a servo unit but was scared off by the price.

Check out a YJ set up. My '88 has a hanging pedal with a cable.

Have you used a hydraulic system? The first question that come to mind, does the system replace the entire linkage or just the pedal and rod?

Yes, I have used one in a dune buggy.

It replaced everything between the pedal, and the carb.

Not that common as far as finding an accelerator cable and carb linkage but my 70 Jeepster with the 134 uses the cable set up. Gas pedal mounts to the firewall with three bolts, lots of those around.

I called CNC , the manufacturer of the hydraulic system. They stopped making the the hydraulic system. A cable system has replaced it.

Yup. Harder to find stuff for the 134 though cause most had the 225.
