Steering shaft diameter

Does anyone know off hand the diameter of the steering shaft inside the steering column with the original Ross box? I'd measure myself, but my Jeep is 1500 miles away

The one I sent you has the ring insert on one end, upper end I believe, the inner shaft from my Rossbox fits snugly in that ring.

 

Yeah, but I need to know what the actual shaft diameter is. I'm going to be doing Herm's steering box swap when I finally get off this ship and I'm trying to get a parts order together. I'll be retaining the original steering column and putting a U-joint on the end of the original shaft where it would have gone into the Ross box, but I need the shaft diameter so I can order the correct U-joint... I want to say it's 3/4" for some reason, but I may be wrong...

 

It's a 7/8" at the bearing, the shaft itself is .010 +/- . Hope this helps.

 

7/8" it is then... Thanks! Now I can get my parts order together. Why do I feel the need to completely rebuild my Jeep on a semi-regular basis?
