Has anyone ever fabricated their own wheel houses and if so, does anyone know of a template or drawings showing the dimensions of the flat sheet before bending? I've seen some awesome fabrication on here, and elsewhere and it would seem that decent wheelhouses could be built for quite a bit less than the almost $200 each the aftermarket wants for them. (i'm cheap and using salvaged DJ5 floors front and rear and no way can I justify the cost of new ones on this project)

It also seems that making my own I could adjust the length to accommodate relocated seating positions. See many making those adjustments for different seats.

Also, are the factory ones spot welded? I am not seeing the obvious signs of spot welding (where they attach to the outer body panels above wheel well openings) on them like you see in other locations.
    Thanks.

I believe they are spot welded all the way around. To the floor panel, to the rear tail light panel, to the body side panel, and to the riser panel.

I'm sure you could make your own with some effort. The hard part would be getting factory look on the top of it, if that's important to you.

i dont have a template but here are the measurments from my tub. the factory houseings are 11.5"w 11.25"h. the front has an angle to it, the top is 35" long and the bottom is 41.5" long. if you dont care if it looks original you could use round prefabed wheel housings for a drag race car or a trailer fender and both are fairly cheap.

Thanks for the Dims supertrooper. Mine are so smashed up and deformed anything would be better. Now to figure out a good way to remove them without distrubing the outer paint and metal since my plan was to keep the outside of this CJ looking the way it currently does but im thinking that probably won't work out. I am going to try to make a cardboard template and transfer it to sheet metal to make a set. If anyone has any other info or words of encouragement, i'm all ears!
