I have a roll bar off a 78 cj5 installed in the fender wells of my 68 CJ5. This roll bar appears to be too tall for the windshield and prohibits a soft top I bought from installation. I plan on shortening the height of the roll bar, but before I start I would like to see what height others are using for their roll bars (measured from top of fender well to top of roll bar).

I have what I think is an intermediate bar on my 2A. It measures 32 3/4 inches from the top of the fender to the top of the bar. Soft top fits fine.

Just for comparison purposes (because I think mine is from an intermediate too...comes to a slight peak at the top) 32 1/2" to the top of the wheelhouse...HTH

Mine also comes to a very slight peak at the center. 32" top height at the down bars, roughly 32-3/4" at the center. Also of note, the bar does sit slightly higher than the windshield frame. This was a factory '71 Ren II bar that I had welded into a 6-pt:
