I'm looking into this because I'm sick of pulling apart the drums every time I go out (mud/water), the simple way would be to get a kit and install it but

    1. the shipping costs to Ireland are expensive
    2. serviceability of US parts in Ireland is hard at best

    The 44 is on a 75 CJ6.

What I'm wanting to do is use locally sourced parts and fabricate my own brackets, what I'm looking for is ideas on the best way to mount the calipers (weld to tube or bolt to the flange). I here about the need for shims/spacers? Whats this for.

What difference is there between the early Dana 44 2 piece axle flange setup and the newer 1 piece (like mine) in terms of flange bolts etc. What the difference between the flange setup on a AMC 20 and the Dana 44 (mine)? The reason i ask this is because a couple of the club guys have templates for these axles, I wanted to know if these would work on mine before I go designing something myself.

If anyone has any CAD drawings of their brackets I would be interested in them as a starting point for mine.

    Any help would be appreciated.
