A good experience from Novak

I often read on this forum but don't contribute. I guess what you have to know about me, I believe in word of mouth and strongly consider others experiences when making new purchases. With that said, I have had to purchase many parts for my 6.0 Vortec to SM465 conversion. I want to say that Novak is a great, knowledgeable company, which has the best customer service I have ever dealt with. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying several hundreds of dollars with their competitor as well, but the competitor company was rude, even degrading, and ended up making me spend hundreds more on incomplete, improperly advised kits. If anyone wishes to hear my experience with them I can but I will not mention it here for the sake of brevity. BOTTOM LINE, I AM IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH NOVAK BUT THEY ARE A GREAT COMPANY.

I write this because I am the first person to say bad things about a company that treats their customers poorly, but I also feel it is important to tell people about companies that have gone above and beyond.

Don't assume all parts in a rebuild kit will work with your application, even when specified for your application. The split rings installed on the bearings supplied with my T15 kit from Novak were too thick. Bolting down the front bearing retainer caused me to crack the retainer because the ring was too thick to pull up tight with the case. I am indeed a novice, but parts shouldn't be supplied that obviously won't work.

    nickmil In mothballs.

The snap rings supplied on the bearings are installed by the bearing manufacturer, not the rebuild kit supplier, whoever they are.
Absolutely correct, always double check the parts before installation.

I don't know if anyone else has, but I forwarded this thread to Novak. I'm sure they will appreciate the info. btw, I am not affiliated with Novak either...just like companies to know they are being appreciated for good work.

Eric at Novak sent a reply after I forwarded this thread. I thought I'd share it with all who have used Novak or might be thinking of using Novak. I consider this reply to be for everyone who took the time to post on this thread and, for that matter, everyone who posts on this site. Here is what he wrote:I am very impressed that you'd take a minute out of your surely full days to pass this along to us. It's a gracious thing. Thank you. I've passed this along to my coworkers.
It's humbling to read this, but it's renewing and encouraging as well. We've worked harder than I could have previously imagined when we rebuilt the company in 1999 and I hope it's benefitting Jeep folks out there. We're going to keep trying for smarter and better.
Again, thanks for the heads up. I wish you and your Jeep very well.
    My warmest,
    Eric at Novak

I couldn't be happier with the parts I've bought from them, or the excellent customer service I've gotten. I thought they were the bees knees. (Always wanted to use that.)

I have about a thousand bucks worth of parts that I will be ordering in the next few months. I have contacted both Novak and their competitor on a couple of occassions with questions, by phone. It didn't take many phone calls and I knew I will be ordering from Novak. Those guys treated me well, answered all questions and were very friendly...even if I wasn't ordering parts on that day. Excellent knowledge and just plain helpful.

They will be getting my business and you guys are confirming my decision.

Although it's been about 10 years, I've worked with Eric on parts for the '71.
Eric and his staff were most informative and helpful. On one occasion I received an incorrect part (not their fault)... and they immediately shipped a replacement without waiting for approval and return of incorrect item.

    Always superb customer service!

IIRC, Eric had (still has?) an ECJ5, and has a member account here at EarlyCJ5.net...

Same here! They sent me a defective clutch fork with their hydraulic clutch conversion kit. I sent an email with a photo of the defect and I had a new fork 2 days later!
