This may get you started. I don't have photos of the forward section. But I have a couple of the rear where the cable splits and feeds off to the drum.

It looks like the cables con into the backing plate from the back. Can you get a picture looking at the wheel (backing plate)?

I too am currently working on the parking brakes of a 73 CJ 5. I got the front cable loose and got it to slide. I reinstalled and tightened at the splitter to attempt to engage the brakes. No go on that plan, so I will be getting into the drums next. I dont think the parking brake has been used in years on this Jeep. Everything else I have touched has been caked with sand and rust. So far disassembly cleaning and re-assembly have restored operations. I have a Chiltons and a Bentleys manual with photos. I have searched for a TSM that usually has even better illustrations and procedures but have not found it yet.If/ When I do I will post a link. I found a link on this great site, maybe it will help

    Thanks

While the following is from an intermediate Jeep, it's a '75. All caveats apply. Here you go, starting from just behind the transfer case where the single cable passes through a support and working backwards towards the "tee"...
