Just a thought, since I'm new to this whole thing but has anyone come up with instructions and pictures to do a drum to disc brake conversion? I'm ready to go through with the conversion but just a thought, if someone already has done it, knows the tricks etc. would be awesome if there were instructions with pics. Not to mention, someone could make some $$$ on ebay selling them to people like me. :D Just a thought, also w/ a parts list, mainly the bearings needed etc. to space it out the correct length etc. Thanks,
    Mike

R&P sells drum and disc brake conversions for open and closed knuckle fronts and 11" drum brake conversions for rears, with and without parking brake hardware. They can be reached at 503-557-8911 and are in Oregon City, OR (Just south of Portland). Nickmil.

Will caliper mounts from a 76 Jeep Wagoneer work for the disc brake conversion? They use 70's Chevy brake calipers etc. and are from a Dana 44 1/2 ton axle. Please let me know.

Ok now what about a Dana 30? I can get a complete axle for like $50, but the gear ratios aren't right for the CJ5. But would it be just easier to swap axles???

Thats what I'm doing right now.
Put in a set of 3.73 gears that I got from Nick and installed an Aussie locker last weekend. Joe and Lynn did the same thing to there Jeeps. The axle install itself is no big deal, the gear installation might be a problem for you though, I found it very easy after learning how it was done. The Aussie locker was a piece of cake.
