I need some help with wipers for my ventilating windshield. The thing has never had the right motors, arms, or blades on it as long as I've had it and it's time to fix it. I have the commonly used 12V replacement motors, the kind that are kinda oval shaped. The main issue with these is that they're so tall, or stick out away from the frame so far, that when the ventilating section of the windshield is open they hang down so far and are right smack in the center of my field of vision. Second, the arms are way too long. I think they're 10 or 11 inches long, but something closer to 6" would be closer to right.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to different wiper motors? What wiper arms and blades should be on this thing? If anyone has any part numbers or sources of the correct, or nearly correct parts, that would be great. A few pics would be helpful too. Thanks in advance

The "correct" venting WS arm is pn 689975 which is about 2" shorter than than the non-venting arm (977917). Correct blade is 975712.

Of course the arms only fit the stock wiper motors. I've got a set, if you can wait a few days I can give you the exact measurements.

I need this information as well. I have looked at marine wipers and they can be found of good quality but are still not right.

Hmmm... Yeah I guess they would have been vacuum originally... I really need to stick with electric though. With the cam I'm running, I only have 5" of vac at idle

    Must be getting old :(

I just remembered I took these photos a few months back for someone here-

This is the vent arm & a regular arm-

And compared to the military arm

The blades, according to info on the Jungle Jim parts catalog, are 9" for the venting blade vs. 11' for the regular.

My 59 CJ5 with ventilating w/s has a factory Trico Vacuum wiper motor on driver side SF-634-1 which is much better than the omix electric replacement that I had before. The omix electric one stuck out from w/s much farther so when window was open it hung really low into my field of vision. The original vacuum motor is much closer to the windshield so its not in the way as much with window open but it still does hang into field of view. I am about 6'3" 185 lbs and my 2/3 seat is positioned as far back as factory adjustment allows and the factory motor hanging down with window open I can live with.

I just posted couple months ago basically this same question your having. My ventilating w/s now has factory vacuum wiper on driver side and manual crank wiper on passenger side. I am currently using a 10 inch blade on driver side with what looks like a adjustable arm set at 7.5 inches from middle of wiper shaft to small screw that attaches the blade. This arm and blade length combo seems to work great without going off the glass.

Haha, no, it's a really big cam. 292* advertised duration. Don't forget I'm running a Chevy 327. It idles like a drag car :)

Thanks for the pics, that really helps a lot. At least now I know what I need for arm and blade length. I'm thinking I might have to dig through the Speedway catalog or something.. My current wiper motors have the 1/4" smooth shaft. The arms you pictured are for the more common larger splined shaft. I wonder what the guys with street rods and chopped roofs do?
