    Hi everyone,
Im getting to the point in my custom frame build were I need to work on fuel lines.

What does everyone recommend for fuel lines? Rubber, nylon, steel....

This is a carb low pressure application with a return line.

    Thanks in advance!

Rubber at flexing points, metal everywhere else. I have all rubber lines I'm gearing up to replace after some other work.

I really hate them. Rubber gets old and cracks, it's not a good idea to use rubber for the whole line.

You can use steel brake line from any auto parts supplier and small lengths of rubber fuel hose. I actually left the flare on the ends to give something to clamp over...worked well for me. On my '74 with 360 V8 I used 5/16" for supply and 1/4" for return line.

Any rubber hose you use, make sure it is stamped directly on it as "Fuel". That way you know it is safe for todays fuel with ethanol. It will be high pressure hose, there isnt a low pressure made these days that cuts it.

Fuel grade rubber is fine. I ran steel braided fuel hose on my race car for YEARS and it was a pressure system. Race rules only changed requiring braided when some guy hit the wall and burst into flames from a cut hose, not a break. Steel can rust from the water trapped by the ethanol. I just purchased a new MTS fuel tank to deal with the ethanol. After I upgrade the tank & hoses I will rebuild carb.
