I dont have much experience with emergency brake linkage. When i install the waggie axles i will have emergency brakes in the rear finally. I already have the cables from the brakes in the rear. I also have my hand brake lever and cable from that that is original to the jeep. How would i go about connecting the cables together?? Does anyone have pics to give me an idea on how to set up the brakes so they will function. It really doesnt seem hard but unsure of what universal parts are made for me to connect the cable. Also is there a way to keep the cables up out of the way so i do not drag them on trail obstacles.

    Thanks!

    Dan-
I would think a quick trip to the hardware store would do the trick. There, you could buy fittings to link the cables together and small eyebolts to run the cables through. Ofcourse, I haven't done this yet...it's just a thought.

On my Willys PU, there's a bracket, works similar to the clutch bellcrank, that connects the handbrake cable to the rear wheel cables. Take a look at ebay item #7946819265. The chassis pics show this bracket on the forward of the two crossmembers. My IH pick-up has a simple lever, the cable from the foot brake attaches at the end, the cable to the axle attaches in the middle. The added leverage decreases the "umph" needed to set the brakes.

i know the cherokee has something similar to bike brakes on it. on wire comes down from the handle and dead ends into a plate. from there two seperate lines come out and go to the drums. it's all kept tucked up to the floorboard until it meets the bracket. after that they basically hug the driveshaft as it comes down (you would scrape the driveshaft before the brake lines).

wait, forgot about the offset. that might still work, but you're going to have to have enough angle to miss the shaft... and the cable really needs to be centered to have the same braking at both sides. might get a little fun.
