    Hey all,

OK, out on the trail this past weekend, I did have a "clutch binding" issue at one point. What my inquisitive mind wants to know is what exactly is going on during binding? Is it that as the frame twists, the linkage gets twisted and bound up enough to not function correctly? Or is it something with the linkage moving enough to press against the clutch fingers?

Also, Can anyone supply me with photos of their chain clutch linkage? I'm working it out in my mind, and would like to see some setups like this....

    TIA!

What I experience is enough flex in the frame to stop the cable linkage from fully disengaging the clutch. (at least I assume that's what is going on)

Case in point - I was trying to turn around in a tight spot on the trail. As you can imagine, it was about a 50-point turn. Every time I'd go from 1st to reverse, the tranny would grind like crazy. This only happened with I had one tire up on the bank and the suspension was flexed. Once I got turned around completely and was sitting flat on the trail, everything was fine. It's quite annoying... I, too, am interested in a chain linkage conversion.

FWIW - I don't have the hard linkage to the clutch. I have the later-style clutch cable.
