I know its been discussed and I did a search, but I'm still not 100% satisfied.. I want to completely remove all E brake components from the rear of my Dana 18. Do I need a different rear yoke? Will my current rear driveshaft need to be altered? What parts that aren't currently found on a Dana 18 will I need to acquire (if any). What other considerations should I take into account?
This is on a jeep that is not currently registered, nor will it ever be. It is used only around the yeard and to plow snow, so there is no need for it.

Also, I'd be interested in hearing about a disc brake setup on the rear of the transfer case for my driver jeep. I know this was dicussed earlier, but has anyone successfully pulled it off?

I don't see why you couldn't remove all the e-brake components and just bolt it all back together. The backing plate just bolts tot he outside of the D-18 and the drum bolts to the backside of the rear output yoke.
You'll need a big honkin' socket to get the nut off the output shaft, but the rest is gravy!

I think this thread is what you're after.

I'm in the middle of a D18 rebuild, and plan to just leave off the brake drum stuff.

the reason everyone started talking about changing lengths on boyink's thread was because he mentioned changing yokes. if you don't mind having the flange up there then you can just take the shaft and yoke off, pry off the drum from the flange and unbolt the backing plate. the drum goes behind the flange so nothing reall changes, only the braking stuff has been removed.

be carefull on the backing plate though, make sure those bolts go back in tight and don't back out.
