I am trying to add a Grant Steering wheel to my 66 CJ5 with stock steering. I finally got the old wheel off thanks to help from this forum. I had to enlarge the hole on the Grant wheel to fit over the threaded area on the column. The adapter starts to go over the splines but stops after about 3/8 inch. I don't want to force it on and screw up the column. Any ideas on what the problem is? I have researched the different forums here and no one mention any problems with that except for having to enlarge the steering wheel hole.

IIRC the Grant adapters are aluminum (or potmetal)
I don't think that would damage the column, but it sounds like you might have the wrong adapter.
