Can anyone tell me what it would cost to have a T 18 rebuilt??? How difficult is it to do for your regular shade tree mechanic??? I know it will depend on area, but I'm looking for a ball park figure.
    Thanks

High 5, a master rebuild kit from Novak will cost you $159 that consists of gaskets, seal, shift fork bushings, bearing, synchros and other small parts, plus a rebuild guide. It also depends on what the gears look like when you open it up on whether you’re going to need new ones. I believe you can do the job, you need to work on a clean bench, take notes and plenty of pics. Good luck.

you can do it. nikmil sent me the general instructions back when i was going to do it. the price for someone else depends on the person doing it. when i went to get mine done ( decided i did not want to do it myself) i had people tell me between $400 and $100.

Labor and rebuild kit shouldn't cost more than about $250-$300. If they have to replace hard parts like gears, shafts, etc, then it can run quite a bit more. I usually charge $100 plus parts to rebuild a T-18. It's very do-able at home, but will need a puller to remove input and output bearings. Other than that, follow directions from a good service manual and take your time. Nickmil.

Exactly what Nick said. It is doable at home, i did have a friend with a press and puller so it made it easier, but defiantely doable. I had the unfortunate time of having to buy new hard parts for it so it was a bit more pricier than first estimate. Good learning experience.

nope nick was right. if you add in the cost of the adapter then you get up there. i think i paid $75 labor for mine to be done and $35 for cleaning and parts.
