Today's question that I really should know the answer to but don't...

What's the stock connection point for the battery ground cable?

    Ground strap connecting points?

Battery negative terminal towards the front or back?

'55 if it makes a difference.

My original 1955 Owners Manual does not show any picture of the battery, unfortunately.

But all the early schematics for fender-mount batteries show the ground (negative) terminal post toward the front outer corner. I would trust that.

I'll go look at my '56/57 a bit later for the other questions. Pretty sure it's still stock.

Okay... What I called a fender-mount actually sits on the right frame rail. The front leg of the tray support has a 3/8" hole at its top front/right face, for the negative cable. Just below the front side of the battery tray.

The grounding strap runs from the rear bolt of the front-right engine rubber mount (on the frame horn), then across and down to the rear of the engine mounting plate, near the block just inside and below the generator pivot. Flat woven braid, about 8 inches long.

    This is on a stock/original '56 manufacture CJ5.
