OK, I've overhauled my two vacuum wipers, cleaned all the crud out & lubed up nicely with some knuckle pudding I had spare. I can get both to move just by sucking (No jokes Please) on the vacuum port and both will park when the valve is closed. One however won't reverse- the toggle mechanism flips over ok pushing the brass pistons up & down but the vacuum (or is it atmospheric pressure?) doesn't get swapped to the other side, as long as I apply suck to the port the shaft/flapper won't/can't move.

The gaskets are in perfect shape, the ports from the piston bores to the casting recesses seem to be open & the vacuum channel through the lid between the sides is open.

    Any ideas?

Also, can anyone tell me where/how the chambers are getting vented to the atmosphere? Are the pistons switching the vacuum or atmosphere?

    Thanks,

    H.

The brass piston stroke is adjustable by slightly bending the swing trigger (sheet metal).
Adjusting the swing trigger will allow the paddle do it's left / right sweep cycle.

Thanks for the pointer Ken but unfortunately that's not it :( With the switch off it parks, with the switch on it moves over the other way & there it stops. Switch off again & it's back to park. Pushing/pulling the switch to wipe the rain off the windshield doesn't strike me as an attractive proposition.

    Any other ideas?

might have a little pudding in an airway on the toggle to park side. I'm thinking there are two routes for air to travel on the parking side one is direct between the circular extrusion and park on the switch. the other route was from the manual switch to the toggle switch and back. so if there is a clog or leak in that toggle to park side i believe it would cause what your referring to.

I've been doing that so long on so many vehicles it would confuse me not to...

    "Any other ideas?"
I've often thought about converting to "full manual," like the passenger side. ;)
