New speedometer lens options?

    Just flipped my tub up onto the fire wall to do some more repair work and was going to tape up my speedo to protect it from splatter/sparks......well too late I noticed dangitall!!

    Mines a 55 so it's different then the aftermarket speedos, plus that's kinda expensive to have a shiny smooth glass lens on the dash. Mines not terrible but it does have some noticeable pitting I doubt would polish out.

    So are just lenses available anywhere? I don't ever recall seeing any but then again never really looked while browsing my K-W and 4wheel catalogs...

    find someone who plays with stained glass the grinder they use will cut a circle outa plate glass...

    You can find a NOS one on Ebay for $175.00. The seller is in Vietnam. I bought mine from him.

    This has been discussed here before a few years back, try a search for 'speedometer glass" or "speedometer lens".

    IIRC for '55 this was the only year with a convex glass. I believe someone found a clock supply place that had a glass that was a near match.
