My diggerjeep had a Dana 70 rear with dual wheels on the back. I plan to use it to plow my 400" drive this winter. I'm thinking that I will be better off with only single wheels on the back rather than the duals, which would be less likely to float on the snow rather than dig down to the gravel underneath the snow. I'm running 700-16 NDT on the rear. I also have a set of chains to put on if necessary. If I run single wheels on the rear, should they be in the inner position (narrow track) or outer position (wide track)?

I have NDT tires on the front as well, but am thinking of swapping the rims so I can install conventional 225R75-15s on the front to give better support for the plow. The 600-16s on the front squat a bit when the plow is up.

(The rear is 6.78 and front is 5.87, or something like that, to comp for the difference in tire size). Jeep originally had a grader blade and trencher on back which was long gone when I got it.

Bear in mind, I'm not driving this on the road at all, just plowing the drive this winter. In spring, the plow and top come off for summer fun again.

Can't do the 225 r75-15's with singles in the rear, the rear wheels are 6 bolt split rims. 16".

I'd run the rears on the inner position-if they're outside, they'll probably be wider than the plow & knock snow into the track you just plowed.

I plowed all winter last year with the duallys on mine. Worked pretty good. Only thing I saw was the outer wheels did hit the edge since its wider than the plow. Ill check the tire sizes later and let you know what size I have on front and back.

International ran some standard offset six lug single wheels on their older pickups. You might look into getting a pair of those for plowing season.

I doubt it would be worth the time to change from duels to singles on the rear but if I did it I'd run the singles towards the inside. If on the outside they would run over the snow off the edge of the plow (as someone already pointed out).

I use a track drive snow blower but if my driveway was only 400" long I'd just shovel it.

Wide rubber tends to "float" on snow. Single tires may well dig in deeper and grip better.
