I know the doors with this Koenig the windows go up and down just using your hand, they are spring loaded. There is no crank handle or any type of handle, from what I see, you twist a little stopper lever on door, then put your hands , one on outside one on inside and move window down, when down twist lock to hold it, then when you want it up you twist stop and the window raises up under spring pressure. This seems like a dumb idea to me as I see no way to put a window down, when your driving. If anyone knows better how these windows work , please chime in, this is what I have fiqured out from taking the doors apart while repairing them. If any one has instructions for installing these cabs, I would love to see them. I still don't know how the hinges attach to the body. I'm not sure how to know where to mark to drill holes as if I'm seeing this right, the front of the hinge would be behind the front of the door, so noway to mark where the hinge is at.

The front of the doors that I have, have a continuous hinge with maybe four or five bolts which go thru holes drilled in the body sort of in line with the windshield.
I can measure if you wish.

My better door had a canvas strap I think the spring is to only slow the glass as It drops and the strap held it in place. I am going to put in electric window regulators when I rebuild my doors. That will also give control of the passenger side while moving.

What electrics do you have in mind? That's a VERY good idea.

I set the cab on the jeep today, and loosely fit doors. (only 2 bolts per door) It seems like the doors fit ok, just wondering what is the gap between the top and the door suppost to be? Does it look to you guys that I have things lined up the way they should be? I still need to put the plate at top of windshield, will do that today, I'll take some pics after I get it installed. Wow, I forgot about this thread I started some time ago. I still have the top and doors and had sort of decided to sell them as I am in central California and we don't need much more than a bikini top but this looks so nice maybe I won't. Mine is original equipment for this jeep. Have you weighed all the stuff?
I suspect the hardtop may weigh maybe 150/160 and the doors at least 60 each. I took the doors apart and cleaned the rust as best I could and installed stainless fasteners everywhere. Did you weatherstrip between the body and the top?

Greevesman, I'm just getting everything to line up right now, then I will remove and put some type of weather stripping between cab and body. Hardest thing I see is where I can find new rubber for the doors, mine is all dry rotted.Next I will remove doors and fix bottoms and look for electric window hardware.

I bought my 1965 C-j 5 about 8 months ago It is a bone stock F134 3 speed with about 58k original miles. I am the second owner and from what I can find out it was purchased from a dealer in southern California with the hardtop and doors included and installed. Original color was a bright red. Both the body/doors/top are that color. I had to do the transmission and in ordering parts I asked for a clutch disc. The fellow sent me a 8.5 disc and when I pulled the pressure plate it was apparent I had the heavy duty 9.25 clutch. Later when I was concerting to 11" drums I ordered seals and the ones I received just dropped in. I told the vendor and he said I had heavy duty hubs which had larger bearings and seals.
My question is this, does anyone know if when building a factory hardtop, did Kaiser have a package which included certain heavy duty parts such as the clutch and hubs? Like the Ford Police Interceptor package. The only other thing I notice is the leaf springs have a groove on the bottom of each leaf which runs the full length of the leaf. One of my friends told me that was special. Is there any way to trace the original configuration of a particular jeep?
    Thanks

Spelling names backwards is a good mind game. Some of the stock springs did have a groove cut in them from the factory Somebody like Oldtime can tell you who made them .gnipeej yppyaH

ALthough I've never seen one in person, I was under the belief that the Meyers window was much smaller and angled oddly to miss the hump on the CJ5. I suppose less useable isn't the right word, perhaps less viewing area?

Hemmings has an advertisement for a weatherstripping vendor called Steele Rubber products. www.steelrubber.com 888 840 7833.
Perhaps they could supply something. Mu door gas small steel channel around the perimeter that someone had put foam strips in.
Let me know if they have anything useful.
