1970 V-6 heating questions

    OK! I checked the timing and it was good. I changed out the high flow water pump with the original pump that I pulled off the motor. (20 plus years old). The water temp has not been above 180 while running down the Hwy at 60-65 mph. The water temp has gone up to around 200-205 while crawling around the hills on dirt roads at low speeds. My plan is to build a fan shroud and see if that helps with the low speed temp. I also am going to buy a "new" original type water pump and put on .
    Thanks to all that had input and help me figure this out.

    Good to hear your heating problem now seems solved at high rpm by changing out the high flow pump back to stock............a shroud should help the low rpm air get to the radiator and hopefully bring that down a little also..........let us know how that works.

    I built a shroud for mine...it definitely helps.

    Glad you got it straightened out. :) You certainly aren't the first to experience what you did. Isn't it amazing that the engineers at the factory actually had things like that figured out already and knew what water pump to use. ;)
