have you tried a new cable . another thing that still might do it . would be the nut on output shaft is loose . and speedo drive gear is slipping on shaft . just thinking

Your cable is binding, have you pulled the center completely out of the sheath to check for any fraying?

    :iagree:
Check the outer sheath also, for damage or sharp bends.

I suppose it is also possible one end or the other may be slipping, if it is worn.

Need to work on mine too. If I hook mine up at the speedo, it is noisy(buzzes) and needle just bounces between 0 and 10.

I believe my friend had to trim his shaft twice to get it to work. No, I'm not being kinky.

Going to look at mine tomorrow. It was unhooked when I bought it. I am going to only put nut a few turns on head and see what it does. When I put it on all the way finger tight it was noisy and bounced. I then pulled out the cable. It was not frayed anywhere. Re lubed it with lithium grease and retried it. Made no difference.

The tip of the speedo core for the head is a formed metal tip with a shoulder. This tip is designed for proper depth and should not be trimmed. The length of the core should be cut at the bottom ONLY. Insert a wire into the receiving hole of the driven gear assy to make sure it is not packed with dirt and grease and that the lower end of the core will slide into the receiver hole easily.
