After removing the bellhousing, transmission, and transfer case as a whole, I found this bearing on the ground. I was hoping somebody might identify where it came from. I had no luck finding where it came from in the service manual. It is black, and 3/16 of an inch.

Only 2 transmission bearings are the ball bearing type and there is only a single ball bearing assembly in the transfer case.
It's way too small to be from the transmission input or output shafts.
Also too small to be the from the front output of transfer case.

That leaves the shift poppets as the only possibility.
It's not a transfer case shift poppet.
Those 2 shift poppets are 1/4" diameter.
It could possibly be a poppet from the transmission shift tower.
So I ask what specific transmission do you have ?

    That's not the only possibility.
The most likely is an old ball from a previous clutch release bearing.
It's definitely the right size for that.

3 speed t90, dana 18 transfercase. The poppets on the shift level sit up inside of the housing, so the shift roll would have to come out for the poppet to fall out, right?
