As they say...https://www.google.com/search?q=site:earlycj5.net+wheelhouse+notch The link will bring a multiple page list.

Shaun, you're working with a '66 CJ5 correct? If so, reseach if you can get your sight line lower also, that upper windshield frame can be as if a sun visor was permanently down. Not good for best observation in town (traffic lights) or country.

yes, 66 CJ5 V6. running 32" MT may change to AT if I can trade or get right price. It's going to be a around town vehicle. Dave, you mean sight line lower by the top of the windshield? I'll have no top with this Jeep either, just a summer fun jeep.

Without a top you have the advantage of looking over the windshield frame as needed. My point was be thoughtful not to add seat height if you make seat changes. I'm right at 6' and the "blinder/permanent sun visor effect" from the wiper mount windshield frame is more trouble than seat-to-far-forward.

I have seats by Bestop and I modified the overly huge frame and gained 1-1/2 to 2 helpful inches without a wheelhouse notch. Also, the seats are lower than the non-original of the PO, and they're even now on sliding tracks. The driver's side is tilted back, which helps me--I'm not comfortable with an upright back anyway.

I am getting the smittybuilt seats. I'm 5'11'' and its a long stretch to press the brake and clutch pedals. So I'm notching the wheelhouse about 3in. but wouldn't mind lowering the seat. I saw a small bracket I can make for the driver side frame, where it takes the outside attachment and brings it inside and lowers it to whatever length I need it at. My gas take is in the rear now, so no obstacles in the way. So reality is my legs are longer than my torso and I wouldnt want to hit the steering wheel while braking or changing gears, and I sit higher than the PS seat. While looking over the windshield is nice, I still believe the windshield serves a purpose and I wouldnt have the frame/ wiper mounts in my way. Smitty seats are only 129.00 a piece and look original, while saving money.

My seats were my best junkyard find to-date. They were new condition--they asked for $100.00 for the pair--I said you take them out and here's your hundred--they said you take'em out and give us $80. They came out extremely easy; best $375.00 value ever! It was actually fun modifying 40-dollar-apiece seats.
