I bought a top from JC Penny back in 1980. It was a Bestop. Old style with just the conduit type bows. I bought a new in the box Dualmatic/Bestop on eBay in maybe 1995. It had the old style bows, Velcro and snaps, and the padded Door edges for a better seal. It also has removable door pockets.

I believe that the picture you show is of a Kayline..... and, if so, I want it :) I'm restoring my 1966 CJ5 (after 22 years of dormancy in my garage), which bears the Kayline hardware (see photo), but I have no idea where my soft top and doors are (I must conclude that I left it behind during some moves).

Almost every day I search on ebay, craigslist, etc. for a replacement Kayline that will fit my '66 CJ5, but no luck so far.

See if your bow hardware matches mine in photo. -- ronnie

If you are referring back to the "mystery top" of post #1 of page 1 -- you missed within the thread that it was determined a Bestop. Good luck finding a Kayline --keep a fresh WTB in the classifieds.

Might add JC Whitney to that column , been in Business since 1915................back in the day they sold allot of Jeep Parts through there Catalog. Bought a few trinkets from them , not of any high quality , but just the same there Catalog was always exciting to see it show up in the mail.

Tarry, funny you mentioned J.C. Whitney, I ordered a Jeep logo floor mat that is in my jeep now and I got many comments on it lately. They were the source for many of the old replacement parts on my junk. I looked through there catalog recently and anything jeep logo is long gone. Guess Chrysler put an end to that.

Back in the day.......early 70's J.C.W. was a player in the Jeep aftermarket business , as was Sears and Montgomery Wards.........

    image.jpg I love my Whitco
I would think thou after countless times of being on and off over 20 years it would get pretty torn up. Tarry that top you have/had is a beauty.

I know I'm late to this discussion, but the Bestop I have on my CJ6 is new, and has the roll back windows, no weatherstrip foam on the doors at all and obviously the plain regular door latches. The roll back sides are what I see as a similarity between the two. Cool that it is an old Bestop. I like mine, time will tell how well it will hold up.

Below you'll see the armrest offered in white--from years gone by. The May 1, 1968 price list offers them in black.
