Dana 300 Shifter Mod to SM 465

I'm hoping that some of you out there may have done this mod, and can provide some guidance.

My mechanic brother rebuilt an SM 465 for me with the Novak conversion. I also had my AMC 304 bell housing machined. The transmission is now installed behind my 304 "successfully." When we attempted to install the Dana 300 behind the transmission the shifter bracket/shifter ran into the sm 465 case.

I am eventually planning to rebuild my Dana 300 and install a twin-stick shifter, but don't have the funds currently to do it. I was hoping someone out there has done this mod and can tell me what they did to make the transfer case shifter fit or guide me to some great instructions. I would greatly appreciate it.
