    I did a complete body off restoration of my 75 CJ5. I'm not sure what the steering wheel column is out of because its a tilt wheel and the steering wheel itself looks differant. I bought the jeep 19 years ago and the steering wheel was in it then.
    Anyway I am having a heck of a time with the wiring that connects to the steering wheel. Does anybody happen to have a diagram that shows where each of those wires goes? On both sides of that connecter. The one with like ten wires on each side.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    a pic of the column would help if poss
    sounds to me like a GM or Saginaw column based on your description
    they are the most popular
    but..............it could be another make also
    I am going out on a limb here, but I would venture to say that 90 % of sagi column wiring is the same
    soooo..........
    the wiring plug (male) coming out of the column
    the terminals are lettered (or should be) A-L (or the equivalent)
    the following was taken out of late model Jeep FSM 1980s (all I had for now)
    this is t/s switch wiring, not vehicle wiring
    see if it helps you
    A= stop light switch-white
    B= right rear-dark green
    C=left rear-yellow
    D=flasher-purple
    E=hazard warning-brown
    F=right front-dark blue
    G=left front-light blue
    H=horn-black
    J=key alarm-pink
    K=key alarm-black
    L=auto trans gear selector ligh PRNDL-gray
    now, you should check each closely
    you also will not use all of the above
    the 1975 Sparton had 8 wires I believe
    if you know what the vehicle wires are, and this helps in any way, the rest is easy;
    hook 'em up one at a time
    hope this helps
    oh and welcome !!!!!!!!!!

    Shouldn't there be a hot wire going up?
    Like is the wire going up to the horn hot?
    Also in your explanation (which was great btw) there is no letter "I" Is that supposed to not be an I or is that a mute point.
    Man you guys really know your stuff.
    So now I just need help with the wiring that the ignition hooks onto. the box on the column with the four wires on it but there's like 12 posts to attach wires to. I'm pretty sure those are all back where they should be but since you probably know off the top of your head just thought I'd ask.
    BTW I promice to post a pic when it's finished.

    There is no HOT wire going to the horn. All the horn does is complete a ground and the horn MUST be run though a Relay.
