The FiTech after about an hour of freeway driving, would stumble and die, others here looked at my data dump and said as it got hot, the number went haywire. I tried the inline fan blowing on the throttle body, but that didn't work. If I put it back on I'm going to try using the fan directly into the air cleaner.

The Edelbrock carb is great. 10 mpg, Fitech 15 mpg ( when it works)

In 1984 / 85 Buick ran a coolant line to the turbo TB to try to keep it cooler. A lot of the established Buick turbo experts disagree....... on a ' Blow Through ', They say an aux. electric fan is much better for the task ?

There were a few motors that had heated throttle bodies to keep them from icing up under certain conditions.

Today my wife road tested the jeep... long story but don't get between a mama and her boy's first t-ball game. It did the task. We caught up just before the park.

T case has been leaking like crazy so i pulled it apart the seal looked ok but the shaft felt way too floppy. It was like that last time i was in there but i didnt think too much of it. But this time i dug deeper I pulled the bearing cover out and figured out theres way too many shims in there i pulled out over half of them to get it back in spec. So im going to put it back together with a new seal and see how it goes. Also needs new shoes they are down to the rivets. Im also going to pull the pto cover and see if i can do anything about sealing off the transmission because it overfills the t-case all the time not helping my leaking situation.

I solved the overfill problem hopefully. I filled the two holes with rtv which I thought I did already. But also sealed the bearing from the back. I found a bearing in my stash with a perfect seal that sits snugly on the spacer between the bearing and gear. But how do I hold it against the bearing to seal it? Well I had a spring that was cone shaped. Actually it was a christmas ornament sprinkled with glitter. I removed the glitter and cut off the top and bottom using only the middle section that i bent the ends flat again and with a big washer against the seal it all worked perfectly putting just a small amount of tension evenly on the seal against the bearing. So Hopefully it all works as intended time will tell. A picture says a thousand words. Thats why I wrote a thousand words.

New KYB "Gas-a-just" shocks on all 4 corners to replace the worn out old monroes. Hopefully this'll help the kidney-beater driving experience around town.

Had to replace the alternator on the Commando today, the bearings were howling in the old one. Why in gods name does an alternator need 6 wires?

Hopefully the new one you bought only needs 1 wire.

I didn't buy a new one. When I put the winch on the CJ, I upgraded it to a 100 amp alternator. The alternator I put on the Commando is the original one from my CJ.

Funny, my 62 SBC Wagon came with a Fitech. The p.o. was driving it up here for me to buy and the ECU began to falter and finally die. It ended up being a bargaining chip, got a grand knocked off the price. Used the saved money to pick up an Edlebrock AVS carb (300 bucks) and spring for the new style ECU (220). Have yet to re-install as the carb is running just fine but I'm so curious as to the TBI. FWIW, the old Fitech ecu's had problems with heat. If you're the original owner, it might get replaced under warranty? I would doubt the fan trick will work but... Kind of tedious to swap out the ecu but beer helps.

In keeping with the theme of the thread, yesterday pulled off the wiper arms to adjust the springs. Shortened and re-installed and now there's proper downward tension on the blades. Rain in the forecast so looking forward to a test run. BTW, the little springs break easily, so be careful. Found replacements on flea bay NOS Trico.
Today it's beginning to place the vac brake booster. Hopefully can borrow a bud's lift but if not I'll just grovel in the gravel.

So how come I get and "error you don't have permission" message when I go to look at your pic? I was actually curious.

Had some issues getting the brakes bled so I took the wheels off to get a better look.
Well sinking in the lake I did a few weeks back didn’t help the wheel bearings any. So I’m cleaning and greasing the fronts before going any further with the brake bleeding.
