I went through all the proper procedures when rebuilding the D18 for the '71 so it wouldn't leak. I can't say it doesn't leak, but it doesn't leak fast enough to leave spots on the floor. I just have a damp transfercase that's attracting dirt.

I'm calling it a victory and moving on with my life.

Pan sealed and filled up. Just need the parts for my lockout I forgot at work:whistle:

Decided I should probably install the new seatbelts I got last year. I want to make a bracket to mount between the front seats for the anchor point. See if I get time tomorrow at work.

Made a bracket to mount my center floor mounted seatbelt buckles. Got the buckles a year ago and finally getting around to it.
Found a 2" cut off of a 2x3 rectangular tube. Lopped off an inch to make the U shaped bracket. Couple shoulder bolts so the buckles still swivel down and out of the way if needed.

I pushed it around the parking area in the new place, because I needed it to move, and the battery is stone bloody dead.

Just a big fender washer. If I get bored I may make a plate but everything else has the washers

It's been 3 or 4 years, so the fuel pump needed replacement again. I took the jeep out on the highway to test all the new gas tank plumbing. That is when the pump decided to give up. I was able to limp home. Then it died in the driveway, the carb was dry. I don't want to convert to an electric pump just yet until I decide what to do for an EFI conversion.

    In other news...
I am in the planning (dreaming?) stages of changing the axles from 3.73 to 4.88 and adding an o/d.
For the front dana 27 the only 4.88 ring & pinion I can find for sale are at willysjeepparts and are very expensive.
    https://www.willysjeepparts.com/Ring_And_Pinion.htm
I have looked at locating a NT dana 30 and putting the disc brake conversion on it, but that starts to get pretty expensive too.

The rear dana 44 currently has an OX locker, but thick 4.88 ring & pinion sets are available from several sources that will work with the 3.73 carrier, so that is easy.
    https://nitro-gear.com/nitro-gear-axle-4-88-thick-ring-pinion-for-dana-44.html

The overdrive will be the most expensive piece of the puzzle. That will probably be the final yes or no on the possible project.

Thats a pretty good deal. They are starting to fetch 2-300 around here anymore. Most need a thorough going through though.

Go ahead with an electric pump for the carb. When you go efi you can use it to feed a surge tank after the tank valve since you will have the carburetor tanks.

This one did as well. I gave it to Greg for the “Free Jeep “. He’s spending plenty on going through the whole thing.

Took the rear window out of the Commando (it unzips) and took it to an upholstery shop, the seam was coming apart and snaps were missing. Now I can actually attach the top to the tailgate!

Found a frame crack in the CJ :(
    20230804_160100.jpg
My son welded the crack, I cut a plate out of 3/16 steel to reinforce it.
A little more welding, a little grinding

I rode the blue cj6 out for a biscuit this morn and a couple hours of gas well roads. Got under it to check oil levels and grease it when I got home and found the pass. side motor mount broke. Driver side broke last yr.

Took the dogs for their last spin. Vacuumed the hair out, hosed it off. Put the shelf in for the CO and Utah trips. Ready to load! 4541.jpeg 4542.jpeg

Getting ready to leave for CO later today. Front Dif. was full, rear took 2 pumps (basically full) TC took 5 or 6 pumps (nearly full) The transmission dumped a pint all over the driveway as it was overfull! I had filled it from the top last time I had the cover off a few weeks ago. What a mess!!
