FLIPPING shackles? Like turning them inside out?

Did someone move your spring mounts back a few inches?

I'm guessing that what you mean is that your shackles are flipping forward and jamming up against the frame. If this is true, I had the same problem with my 4" lift. I moved my shackle hanger forward slightly to cure the problem. You want to have the shackle angled slightly to the rear when the vehicle is at rest. I cut the hanger loose, C clamped it to the frame with the spring attached and jacked up the frame until the tire came off the ground. When you drop it back down the shackle should go back, if it flips forward, you need to move the hanger a little more to the front. Also, with a 4" lift, the springs get really long when they flatten out. My shackle would go back all the way to the frame on full stuff. If you experience this, go to a little longer shackle. I made a new pair about 3/4" longer. That's all it took.

I am not sure of the history of your jeep. Have you recently put a lift kit on the jeep?
I installed a 4" lift on my jeep and every time I would go accross railroad tracks or bump the rear shackles would flip. I called national tire & wheel where I bought the lift. The salesman told me to give it time and that after the springs relaxed it would be ok. It did get a little more infrequent. I then, for more lift put a shackle lift on the jeep. After that I never had a problem with it. I would literally jump railroad tracks and get some air and the shackles would never flip.

    I hope that helps.

the lift is not old but not new... my rearend was saging bad (skyjacker 4" softride) so i bought the fitted add a leaf made by skyjacker for my lift....and now the only way i can keep the spring eye off the frame is to jack it up pry and wedge it back out then jack it back down...as soon as i hit a bump up they go right back to the frame. it could be the add a leaf needing broken in (wow what gramar) but the symptoms seem too extreme for only one leaf to have caused...i am not sure...
