    All,

I am looking for pics of the ebrake backing plate.....specifically the pivot point for the shoes. I am missing the retainer tab that was bolted or riveted to the backing plate. I dont believe this was ever a separate cataloged part. The ebrake spreader cam slides up underneath this tab and is either pinned or just loosely pivots somehow (i have nothing to reference). Likewise, the shoes also go under this piece as well as the return spring.

If anyone has a side perspective photo of this please post! I want to see everything I can before I fab something....unless someone has a ebrake backing plate they want to sell.

Yours looks just like mine, although mine had lots of oil on it. While I could be wrong, when I removed the brake bits neither shoe bolts in, the springs hold it together. I've got to replace the rear bearing cap that the plate mounts to, then I plan to reinstall it all.

Not on a device that allows me to share a photo, but I think I took one or two.

One end of the shoe rests on the adjusters at the top of twin2's pic. The springs hold the shoes in place. There is a link and a cam that fits in the piece on the bottom of the backing plate shown in the pic and the end of the shoe rests on that. When the cam lever is pulled, the cam twists and pushes the shoes outward. There should be a picture of this in the Factory/Technical Service Manual.

    There's a link to a pic on Herm's website.

Twin2 - thanks. Is it just a flat metal tab riveted on the backing plate? ie is there anything behind that tab? I just want to make sure if anything indexes the brake shoes behind there.

Thanks. We posted at the same time.

As long as it is just a square piece of metal that is just riveted on that backing plate, I can just fab something up. I wanted to make sure there wasnt a hinge or pivot point of some sort behind that little tab.

It is a pivot point for the cam I spoke about so you need to make it so the cam can twist on it freely but the cam fits on the post with little play.
