Hey All, I have learned a great deal lately about wheels - siping, tubeless, radial, ND, 4 1/2 vs 5 etc. I am planning on replacing my 15" rims with 16" rims. Currently I have 235 75r15 on with 2.5 lift.
    I THINK I want to go to 215 85r16s or 235 85r16.
So - can people post up what they have for wheels on there jeep? I checked the media section on the site and dint see anything. Maybe some good side and or front shots plus whatever lift mods you may have made. Thanks for sharing! Feel free to kick this out of here if this is not the right spot to ask. Or if this tread already exists... Cheers

looks great! Thanks. - by the way - how is the front of the bikini top mounted? I am planning on using the same holes I have for the steel top BUT that means bolts and no quick release which I would rather the quick option of taking it on and off. Cheers

Thanks TX! One of the rims is cracked at one of the bolts so I need to replace. If I can get a good set of 16" I will go that rout. Otherwise I will just replace the one 15"

Bikini tops usually attach the same way a soft top would at the windshield. There is a channel, like an upside down U, that the top slides into, the whole way across the windshield frame. You should still have it on your frame unless it was removed for the hard top but, that generally isn't necessary.

Cragar makes a solid wheel that I kinda like. Someone here has them on their JEEP but, I don't recall who.

    Series 69 Delux

235-85s usually run around 31.5 inches tall. Some get close to 32. They are a heavy ply 3/4-1 ton truck tire. They may stiffen the ride a bit but, you may not mind or even notice.

What size lift are you guys using with the 235s ? How wide are the 16" rims?

Thanks guys! Yep - channel is part of the windshield and I can see how you could slide the bikini top into the underside of the channel.
The 235 85r16s are you guys getting any rubbing on that? Also - general question - the rear tires always look close to the front of the wheel well. Is that ever a concern or does the relationship of a slightly larger diameter rim/tire lift the jeep enough to maintain decent body wheel clearance? Great lookin jeeps guys - big help.

I like the 215-85-16 size. Modern tires (vs the old NDCCs I had on before), hold air fine with the old rims and are the tallest/narrowest tires available for a 16" rim.

All 235s I think are 10 ply (E rating). You can get the 215s in 8 ply (D rating) I have the 8 ply. They are nowhere near as common as the 10 ply. My rims are the stock 4.5" wide military rims. The 215s fit fine but would be happier with 5 or 5.5" rims. I don't need to use tubes. Also, easy steering with the old Ross system.

These images are out of ebay. You can buy 4 of these for under 600 delivered. Uniroyals. These are the 8 ply tires.

I just put on a set of 235/85r16 Mastercraft MXTs on 16"x6" wheels from a Gladiator. I don't have any good pictures at the moment but I'm pretty satisfied. I do have about 2" of lift though.

Thanks again! Happy to report I just picked up 3 16x5 rims. I just started scrubbing. They all have the 1/8 offset hole but only one has raised flat rivets. I will post when they are all cleaned up. Hopefully once I get my hands on a 4th and a 5th spare I will know what the heck tire I want. Cheers!

2.5 bds and my rims are 5 inches wide, the tires will stay on the bead with 10 psi in them.
