Ok I have a few questions. The two PO of my jeep have made some um, odd changes. I need a little help to sort them out. This is for a 1968 CJ5 with a Dauntless V6 (not original).

1} Thermostat housing. The thermostat housing used points off to the Left (passenger side). It is a nice and shiny part so I imagine that it was not original. I think it may be for a 231 buick because that would be the direction of the top left side of the radiator. I need to get a straight thermostat housing. Does anyone have sources for one? Everytime I go to any autoparts store a 66 CJ5 with 225 is too old to look up.

Also does anyone have any pictures of their house routing?? I am a little unsure where the minor hoses go.

    2) Bolts above exhaust ports on block. I can get a picture, but don't have access to my camera for a few days. What are these bolts for? We looked them up in a Chiltons, they are listed as " 5. Bolt"

    3) Dipstick. I don't have one. I found the hole for one. Does anyone have a source or a used one that they want to sell?

    1. Sounds familiar; both my 225 pre-Dauntless Buick V6s (1bbl) have the thermostat housing pointing to the pass. side.

    2. I think those bolts plug up optional emmsions stuff.

    3. I have a spare dispstick...the no-tube kind. PM me if you're interested. :)

Napa is nearby. Talked to two different guys, one of them was annoyed when he couldn't use the computer to look up stuff. Had to be explained to him how to use the books. Also tried Autozone and one other.

McCordville - NE of Indy just across the Han**** county line.

NAPA in Fortville should be able to hook you up.

I rebuilt a tractor engine using them and D ick Fox some years ago.

Dunno about now, but they were instrumental in looking through books for valves, rings, etc. for an IH 504 tractor. That wasn't in the computer.
