I am getting everything ready to put my engine back in the frame next week. My original plastic line is in good shape, should I replace it, and if so would you use hard line or flexible fuel line?

I kept the original. I figured there would be no way it would seal again without leaking - but I was pleasantly surprised.

    If it ain't broke...

  3. Mike: My vintage '68 plastic line is good also. But if I were to replace it I would use an easily bent tube like Bendix. Comes in a 25' roll. Napa # is BK 6414000. Info came from Vernco page.

I'd use metal ran up inside the C of the frame with the connection to the engine being rubber fuel hose. Metal just seems more durable.

I like metal. Won't snag on stuff. Plus if it gets hot it won't melt.

I used brake lines for my fuel line, from the auto parts store. Pretty cheap and they had the proper fittings on them. Also get a small bender for about 5.00 and you're going to find it easy to do. FYI my brake line I got as a fuel line was just under $ 5.00 You can do the whole thing under $20.00

Mike, the plastic line is probably ok, lots of manufacturers used it. But I have never liked it and have always replaced any with metal line. Just seems better to me, but I no actual proof of that.

I replaced all of mine with stainless and it was a pain to bend (compared to aluminum or steel). I would not recommend it to anyone. Its also almost impossible for the do-it-yourselfer to flare properly.
