What about the millions of houses built with copper plumbing?

 

Why would you want water when you could have beer!? Now that's a refreshing shower at the end of the day

 

The 2" tube has barbed fittings soldered into the sides (but close the ends). The heater hoses are attached here to circulate the hot water over the inner coil.

I can't exactly remember how he got the inner coil to pass through the 2" tube without leaking....

If you're seriously interested in making one, I have a picture of it at home. I'll post it later tonight. If it doesn't clarify things, I'll call him and get the details.

I agree with the others - RV's and houses have copper plumbing... what's the deal with not being able to drink the water?

 

Make sure you use drinking water safe solder if you solder any joints at all.

Another tip: don't join copper directly with galvanized pipe. Found this out the hard way -- they react with each other and get messy very fast. What I did in my house was put a brass valve between the two.

 

Is it me, or did nobody suggest that the storage space might be better used for holding the NOS tank? ;-)

I would have thought it's the perfect place for a serious badass amplifier.

Can you get 12V sandwich toasters? Mmm, parking half way up a hill to grill me a nice cheese and ham toastie...

DVD storage?

I thought you Americans would have used the extra space for holding additional ammunition?

My missus suggests using it for a shoe rack...

if you are set on a fresh water tank and possibly a heat exchanger for a shower, this one here looks pretty neat, you could plumb the inlet and the outlet right there where the gas used to go in.

or you could just put the inlet for your storage tank, right there and tell people that you invented a new jeep that runs on water. fill it up with the hose, the first time the neighbor came out and you had the garden hose in the gas tank he would prolly pee himself.

Dutch looks well sorted, you've got more equipment hanging off the back of it that I have in my entire kitchen!!! When you add a shower to the little puppy they're'll be no need to ever return home. With a wireless network laptop you could roam the country and still keep us posted with your wisdom.

The water tank sounds like an awesome idea. Although it does strike me that you are running out of 'proper essential, my jeep wont go' kinda jobs, which frankly isn't in the spirit of this board!!! ;-) Perhaps you should accidentally sever a brake line while installing the tank, just to give yourself something to do...

BTW all of this talk of guns and ammo is really unnerving to us brits, we like to keep our violence and weapons on the soccer pitch where it belongs...
