Boy is it ever quiet around here....

When I took the tub off of the frame I noticed a couple of things different about the M38A1 tub and frame. As you can see in the pic, the rectangular bracket on the crossmember is for mounting a weapon. Off to the sides a little are a couple of brackets for mounting the tub. Unless they're just so rusted that they are completely gone, my CJ5 frame doesn't have these.

I also noticed that my CJ5 originally had 2 hat channels on the rear floor of the tub where the M38A1 only has one. I wish the A1 would have come with 2 as maybe the floor wouldn't be so bent up. It looks like I'll be replacing a floor that's not even rusty soon.

EDIT: I apologize for the picture being sideways. Weird stuff happened to the picture when I tried to resize....

The three mounts are for the gun mount. It looks like a tri pod. And if you look at the floor of the body, you will see dimples where one could drill though the floor and find the hole mounts in the frame. As for that extra floor support channal, it would be located right were the big rectangle frame mount is. (I wanted to add another channal to my floor.)

I always thought just the rectangular piece was for the gun mount. On my A1 those two side plates had body mounts and bolts on/through them...

It's the two holes back farther on the frame that get the bolts. (bottom right hand corner of your picture.

Tonka (early '55) only has one hat channel under the back floor, I'd love to know when they added the 2nd one-
