    Yep. I was just curious if there was something else that caused the misalignment that I need to avoid.

    definitely planning on using the alignment tool or the shaft out of transmission oldpappy gave me.

    I had a CJ5 with a 258 and a 4-speed that continually jumped out of gear, even after a transmission rebuild.

    Finally found the bell-housing was out of true. When I aligned it using a dial indicater and some beer-can shims it fixed the problem.

    The custom TDI adapter to the bell housing was off.
