Decided it was time to improve the hard top remover for the jk. Before I had to move all my stuff from the corner, crank the top up off the jeep with a come along and ratchet straps under the top up to the come along hook. Then one more ratchet strap from the wall to the come along hook to pull the whole thing back closer to the wall. I've been waiting to drop it each time it goes up and down.

So this will hopefully be a little better. I have the mounting rail on and the rollers. Idea is I don't have to back all the way into the corner now. Back up, lift and then roll it up to the wall. I will probably still have ratchet straps going down to the 4 corners but will have a piece of steel or aluminum going from side to side with the straps attached to that. With the hope that if one strap breaks, there will still be 3 straps holding it up. Gotta get more parts for that tomorrow.

What is the original source/function of those rollers and the rail?

It's set pretty level and the weight keeps it from rolling. It's 80/20 series aluminum extrusion. I checked the weight rating of it before I got it. The rollers are made for the 80/20 stuff. Something I was able to grab from work since it was taken off something else. The top really isn't too heavy.

I finally got everything together yesterday and got the top lifted. Still sketchy-ish, just way less -ish than before.

After getting the top off it works better. if I had 2 rails with 2 rollers each so the straps went straight up from the sides, that would be ideal
