Hard Top-no Scratchy

It getting to be that season to put the top back on. I got a 1/2 hard top this summer and test fit/drilled holes. In the process I scratched the paint up a bit. I touched it up and moved on. I am thinking about getting some clear tape to protect the paint like they use on back edge of wheel wells. Line the top of the windshield, where the doors bolt on, and where the back of the cab mounts. Or would I be better lining the top in these areas? Any other ideas on this or something else you all are doing? Thanks

 

I used foam for camper shells adhesive side to the topper to reduce noise and vibration. Mine is already scratched.
