    I think it's an idle stop solenoid, but not sure.
    I broke it while taking out the carb on my 79 CJ5. [​IMG]

    I don't know that carb in particular, but it may be the "dashpot" - it would stop the throttle slamming shut, and let it down it gently just before closing completely.

    A solenoid would need to have electrical wires and I don't see any.
